Tega Designs is led by Elysia Baier, a seasoned designer with a rich legacy in the art of sewing. A generational seamstress, Elysia was mentored by her mother and grandmother, both of whom imparted traditional Metis sewing arts skills, garment tailoring techniques and pattern making principles. Growing up in smalltown Alberta, she also honed her skills through the local 4H sewing club, where her passion for fashion and design flourished. Attention to detail was strongly encouraged by all of her mentor teachers, where doing something correct and making it aesthetically beautiful was of top importance. As a teen, the real challenge was taking the time to adhere to quality workmanship best practices.

After embracing motherhood, Elysia was inspired to pursue her creative aspirations and founded a bespoke sewing and alterations studio in Innisfail, AB, conveniently located between Edmonton and Calgary along the QE2 highway. She again explored some traditional sewing arts from her Metis heritage, from what she learned in childhood, like hand embroidery and finger weaving, to beadwork and soapstone carving. In 2023, she launched her own fashion collections, which quickly gained attention on prominent runways in Canada. Her talent and unique vision led to collaborations with top photographers, models and features in prestigious magazines, both domestic and international. She is mostly inspired by the ultra feminine and hyper masculine silhouettes characteristic of the 1950s, along with modern deconstructed wear and refashioning.
